We are a professional non pressure roof cleaning company serving Tampa Florida
and surrounding areas.
Our roof cleaners use proper soaps and detergents to safely remove and disinfect the black and green algae stains on your shingle roof, tile roof or metal roof.
Using the proper solutions to clean your roof is the first step when beginning to clean your asphalt shingle roof. There are many solutions available today, we have tried every possible way to clean your roof safely and have found one proven method.
We have cleaned thousands of shingle roofs and tile roofs in the Tampa Bay area using A.R.M.A
approved roof cleaners.
A.R.M.A approved mixture :
One cup TSP, one gallon bleach and five gallons of water, to one cup TSP and 2.5 gallons each of bleach and water.
The article states roof cleaners should disperse the solution and allow the chemical to do the work, no scrubbing or dangerous high pressure washing systems should be used. A gentle rinse of
no more than a garden hose is used to rinse the solution free after the shingle roof cleaning solution has had enough time to dwell on the roof.
Following these guidelines is a crucial step when protecting the ceramic granules on your shingle roof. Many roof cleaners rely on a strong sodium hydroxide solution. These solutions will clean your roof, but in my experience cleaning thousands of roofs, you will still have to use a pressure washer or rely on a ‘low pressure rinse’. This will loosen the ceramic granules and you will be washing life away from your roof. In addition, bleach is a much safer and easier chemical to work with along with it’s ability to be safely used. Sodium hydroxide is a degreaser and your shingles have asphalt in themĀ Therefore, spraying a degreaser that requires you to climb all over your slippery, shingle roof and then rinse off the dangerous solution on to the paint and metal lights, etc. on your home is not the safest method.
Bleach does not act as a degreaser, it will only react with the algae discoloring your roof.
Plus, bleach is much more friendly to your exterior paints, metal lights, doors, etc.
We learned very quickly which roof cleaners work and which solutions aren’t worth the bottle they are in.
Roof cleaning requires specialized tools just as any other trade or service.
You will need a pump that is resistant to the solution. In addition to the pump,
a large tank will be needed to house the A.R.M.A solution.
Peerless roof cleaners use high performance chemical resistant pumps to apply our roof cleaning solution. These pumps spray large volumes of solution at very low pressure. Solutions that are within the guidelines are a very weak solution of bleach and TSP, this means you will need to spray a lot of it.
Spraying pure swimming pool chlorine is not what professional roof cleaners use.
Staying within the proper guidelines with mixtures allows a for a safe and home
exterior friendly solution.
Next time you are thinking about spending your weekend on your roof using unapproved solutions because you don’t have the proper tools to safely clean your roof, call a professional roof cleaning company.
